Definition
An instrument consisting of a rectangular wooden case set on a base; equipped with pedal-operated bellows, a wind chest with a perforated bellows board on top, a series of reed blocks inserted with free reeds, a set of stops and a keyboard. Used to produce musical sounds and chords by expanding and compressing the bellows and by depressing the keys, thereby pushing air over the unobstructed reeds and causing them to vibrate.
