Definition
A receptacle consisting of an often rectangular and tinned iron shovel with a perforated lid equipped with an iron or wooden handle. Used to carry hot coals away from the fireplace, often with the purpose of starting another fire elsewhere or to place them in a heater or a bed warmer.
