- Definition
- An instrument, generally made of plastic, with one end consisting of either a small brush with a series of bristles extending from the main body, or of two F- or Y-shaped prongs extending from the shaft and with dental floss attached to the prongs. The other end is tapered into a point. Used to remove bits of food and dental plaque from between the teeth. Also used as a toothpick.
