Definition
A desk with four legs and with an inwardly slanted lid that is supported by arms, lopers or chains. The lid can be opened perpendicularly revealing a large compartment which may have a small drawer below it. Used as a reading and writing surface when the lid is down. The compartment is used for storing books and papers.
