Definition
A square or rectangular, low, ornamented, and open-topped music rack with slatted partitions. It is usually made of mahogany, bamboo, or papier-mâché and rests on four short legs, with or without casters. Sometimes it has one or two small drawers below the partitions. It is usually placed by a piano. Used to hold sheet music, music books, and loose papers.
