Definition
A wide, usually rectangular scarf. It is of the same color and material as the sacred vestments of the clergy; it may have fringes. Worn over the shoulders by the priest as he raises the monstrance to give the Benediction. It is also used to cover the celebrant’s hands while holding a sacred vessel.
