Definition
A curtain made of fabric, often velvet and adorned with embroidery, Hebrew inscriptions and illustrations such as crowns, the Tables of the Law or other Hebraic symbols. Placed in front of or behind the doors of the Torah ark in a synagogue, used to cover the Torah scrolls.
