Definition
A long, bulky, and large wooden chest; equipped with a heavy, hinged lid and sometimes a locking mechanism. It may have rope handles at the sides and sometimes is decorated with simple carvings and paintings. Used on board a ship as a seaman’s storage and carrying box personal and issued belongings.
